A succesful opening of IABR 2026 SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT

What a night! On Thursday, 17 September, the sold out opening of IABR 2026 SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT took place at the Piekfabriek on the Hunter Douglas terrain in Rotterdam. Together with designers, curators, partners, press, invited guests and visitors, we celebrated the start of the 12th edition of the IABR!

Wunderbaum opened the evening with an excerpt from their performance BULK. Both humorous and thought provoking, the performance confronted us with our relentless desire for more stuff and the systems that sustain global flows of goods.

Spoken word artist and poet Moze Naél played a special role during the opening, together with Rotterdam based artists Eva van Manen, Anissa El Mazouzi, and dancer Oumar. Through words, music and movement, they brought together different voices and perspectives from across the city and connected them to the place where SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT takes place.

The official opening ceremony was led by Marjolein Jansen, Director General for Spatial Planning. Joan Nunnely, Alderman for Culture, Community and Language at the Municipality of Rotterdam, also attended the opening.

We look back on a packed and energetic evening and, above all, a promising start to SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT.

From Friday, 18 September, IABR 2026 SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT is open to the public. The exhibition and public program can be visited until 29 November 2026 at the Piekfabriek on the Hunter Douglas terrain in Rotterdam.
