City Healing Tour

Botanical Monument Park 1943 is a park located in Rotterdam West. Since 2019, Creatief Beheer is in charge of the maintenance of the park and they implemented an integral participatory way or working, which transforms the daily maintenance of the park from a cost item into an investment strategy for a healthy living environment for people, plants and animals. This method is called ‘stadsgeneeskunde’, which translates to ‘city healing’. Besides the daily cleaning of the park, the gardening is done in an ecological way. During this tour you will hear everything about how this positively affects biodiversity, public health and social safety in the park. The garden beds are opened and the weeds – valuable native nature – are allowed to participate fully. This gives the park a romantic and lush image with plenty of insects. Creatief Beheer now works in four locations in Rotterdam with 5 professionals and about 30 volunteers.
