Local council bioregional building Zeeland

On September 25, CBK Zeeland is organizing a local council on the future of bioregional construction in Zeeland and its surroundings. The meeting will take place at a very special location: the beautiful Field Station Saeftinghe in the former Hedwigepolder. The local council is part of the national assembly “Towards bioregional construction,” an initiative of the IABR. The Ministry of the Future has been invited by IABR to shape three councils on the future of bioregional construction in collaboration with regional architecture centers. In addition to CBK Zeeland, CASA in Arnhem and Rondeel in Deventer are participating.

The future of bioregional construction

The Dutch government has committed to a circular economy by 2050. How will circularity affect our relationship and the origins of materials, building culture, and the landscape? How do issues, insights, challenges, and opportunities differ by region? And how will we accelerate and strengthen the transition toward a sustainable, nature-inclusive building culture? In September 2024, these and more questions will be addressed in a series of local councils on the future of bioregional building in three regions: Deventer, Arnhem and Zeeland.

For the council we invite people who are in any way concerned with the above questions. During the meeting we will do some fore- and backcasting in which future perspectives and a value compass will be the outcome. The council ends with concrete actions we can take now to bring that future closer. In the place consultation, we use a toolkit compiled by the Ministry of the Future.

Return day on October 10, 2024

The outcomes of the regional councils will be shared October 10, 2024 (in the evening) during a 'Grand finale' return day at the Nature of Hope exhibition at The New Institute in Rotterdam. Here we will discuss local methods, strategies and visions in order to learn, inspire and forge new alliances.

This event is fully booked.
