Local council bioregional building Arnhem

On September 6, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., architecture center CASA in Arnhem is organizing a local council on the future of bioregional construction in De Nieuwe Coehoorn. The council is part of the national assembly “Towards Bioregional Building?”, an initiative of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) in collaboration with the Ministry of the Future.

Bioregional Building

The Dutch government has committed to a circular economy by 2050. How does circularity affect our relationship and the origins of materials, building culture, and the landscape? How do issues, insights, challenges and opportunities differ by region? And how will we accelerate and strengthen the transition toward a sustainable, nature-inclusive building culture? In September 2024, these and more questions will be addressed in a series of local councils on the future of bioregional building in three regions: Deventer, Arnhem and Zeeland.

Local council for the future of bioregional construction

CASA is inviting about 15 people who are in any way concerned with the above questions. During the meeting we will do some fore- and backcasting, the outcome of which will be future perspectives and a value compass. The council ends with concrete action perspectives, actions we can take now to bring that future closer. At the council we use a toolkit compiled by the Ministry of the Future.

Return day on October 10, 2024

The outcomes of the regional councils will be shared Oct. 10, 2024, during a 'Grand finale' return day at the Nature of Hope exhibition at The New Institute in Rotterdam. Here we will discuss local methods, strategies and visions in order to learn, inspire and forge new alliances.
