Carbon Stories was a joint initiative of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR), GROUP A | CARBONLAB, and the KeileCollectief. It emerged from the concern that architecture has an excessively large carbon footprint.
Together these partners developed the format, combined different forms of expertise, and determined the thematic line. Over time, the initiative addressed a broad range of topics, from the CO₂ impact of architectural choices to biobased experiments, the role of designers, new business models, and policies aimed at reducing emissions.
The partners will now continue independently with Carbon Stories and the Rotterdam Climate Academy. As intended, the initiative will continue to evolve. The IABR will focus on advancing knowledge and addressing urgent social challenges, which necessarily involves making strategic choices. We are grateful for our collaboration and wish GROUP A | CARBONLAB, the KeileCollectief, and the Rotterdam Climate Academy every success in the next chapters of Carbon Stories.
