Since September, the Ministry of Make! (IABR, ZUS and MANN) and the Spatial Lab of the Province of Gelderland have joined forces. Together, they are experimenting with design-based research that connects urgent spatial challenges: team YIMBA! (KRAFT architects, Urban Synergy, LANDLAB and COALstudio) is working on the theme of water in the Achterhoek; team FARO & LOF is focusing on energy in the Rivierengebied; team ZieglerBranderhorst is working on the Veluwe with nature as its central theme; and team LMNL & Dérive is exploring the theme of food in the Betuwe/Bommelerwaard. Housing is explored as a fifth theme by all teams. These teams design integrally, informed by research into cultural history as well as current developments, to shape a sustainable future for the Province of Gelderland.

On 4 December, the design teams will present an initial preview of their work during a so-called “kitchen review” at CASA Arnhem. This evening is all about making and showing results. The creative and innovative solutions—both in thinking and doing—will feed the discussion on how collaborative making and visualisation can act as a catalyst for societal change. What visions have been developed? What spatial interventions are proposed, and with what consequences and timelines? What conversations need to be had about finance, policy and legislation? Come and see and listen to the outcomes, think along, or share feedback on the experiments and spatial strategies for Gelderland’s future.

Admission is free.
Registration is not required.
Language: Dutch.
