During this evening event, Roosje Klap will talk to Saskia van Stein, Director of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, about her work, career and motivations. Topics will include her approach to graphic design, the ARK collective (Atelier Roosje Klap), and how knowledge sharing can make modern technologies more open, inclusive and fair.

Roosje Klap is a cultural director, curator, researcher and public speaker with extensive experience in leading arts organizations at the intersection of art, technology, education and society.

Since May 2024, Klap has been General Director of Noorderlicht, the international platform for photography and lens-based media in Groningen. While originally rooted in photography, Noorderlicht now operates across the full spectrum of lens-based media and photography to address urgent questions of systems and power through exhibitions, education, and publishing. Through Klap's artistic program line PLAY (2025–2028) Noorderlicht critically addresses how technological systems and image infrastructures actively organize power, agency, and exclusion, realized through exhibitions such as Pixel Perceptions (2024), Thinking Hands (2026), and the biennials Machine Entanglements (2025) and PLAY (2027).

In parallel, Klap serves as kwartiermaker for Thea, the cultural wing of the former Niemeyer factory in Groningen. In this role, she is responsible for developing the cultural vision, programmatic framework and governance structure of Thea as a long-term open platform for art and technology, in close collaboration with the municipality and regional partners.
