Carbon Stories #16
Paris Proof Urban Planning

Can we design cities in such a way that they structurally emit less CO₂? That question was central to a previous edition of Carbon Stories. Since then, three new studies published in early 2026 have shown how closely urban design, mobility, and lifestyle are linked to CO₂ emissions. The message is clear: the way we build our cities makes a difference.
What do these insights mean for our cities? And if we know where the greatest gains lie, what is stopping us from implementing them? During this edition, we’ll discuss this with Martin Sobota (CITYFÖRSTER) and Jurriaan van Stigt (LEVS), among others, alongside policymakers and developers. Moderator Geert Maarse will lead the discussion. Doors open at 7:00 PM
