Using drawings, models, films or other audiovisual means, the 45 entries show how students and their teachers think "social cohesion" can be shaped through architectural and urban planning projects.
The Rotterdam Academy of Architecture has attached the Parallel Cases Biennial Award to the exhibition. An international jury chaired by the Chief Government Architect, Liesbeth van der Pol, will announce at the opening which entry responds in the best, most inventive and creative way to the challenge of shaping the Open City.
Parallel Cases can be visited in the monumental 'Innovation Dock' on the grounds of the Rotterdamse Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM), a former shipyard in the middle of the port area.
