The background of Archiprix
Since being founded 40 years ago, Archiprix has served as a link between academic programs, experimental (sometimes speculative) design projects, the professional field – potential clients and other designers – and a socially engaged public. As a scout of emerging talent, Archiprix explicitly positions itself as a platform that directly connects educational outcomes to the social value of the design disciplines.
Archiprix 2026: Open Vizier
For Archiprix 2026: Open Vizier, an independent jury will evaluate the projects of young designers; their graduation projects will be presented in a public exhibition and discussed in dialogue. Archiprix 2026 is designed to demonstrate how young designers can contribute to addressing urgent social issues.
The independent Archiprix 2026 jury consists of:
- Anne Loes Nillesen (Defacto Urbanism)
- Job Floris (Monadnock)
- Lieke Jildou de Jong (Landscape Collected)
- Marc Schoonderbeek (TU Delft, Borders & Territories)
- Nima Morkoç (HA-HA Design & Development)
- Non-voting chairperson: Saskia van Stein (IABR)
Anne Hoogenwoning will prepare the jury report.
Developing young design talent
Through the collaboration between IABR and Archiprix, the two organizations support young design talent in advancing their design practice – their message, experiments, and wealth of ideas. Many of these graduation projects introduce new ideas into design practice.
Offering Archiprix graduates a platform in the network and context of IABR strengthens the impact of their work. The collaboration makes it possible to present research-driven design projects through exhibitions, online publications, and dialogues with professionals, policymakers, and the public. This way, the collaboration contributes to a vibrant, participatory, and future-oriented design culture guided by principles of repair, justice, and sustainability.
What's planned for Archiprix?
In the coming months, Archiprix 2026, Open Vizier, will travel to various locations across the Netherlands as a touring exhibition. In addition, the project actively seeks collaborating partners – so-called ambassadors – who support young designers in the further development of their plans.
