On June 30th, IABR, AIR and Nieuwe Instituut organise a Water Workshop as part of the Rotterdam Architecture Month 2023:

During this working session, initiators, residents, policymakers, designers, and interest groups will come together to think about how we can connect small-scale initiatives to the large-scale water challenge. Under the guidance of a workshop leader, three rounds of work will take place at three different scales to address this design challenge.

The Water Workshop is part of Water Day. During Water Day, various program components provide an opportunity to learn more about both local and global perspectives on the water challenge. Rising water levels, water shortages, droughts, or floods – how do these already affect our lives, what will happen in the long term, and how can we respond? With guided tours, workshops, and lectures, we tackle the challenges surrounding the water issue. We learn from community initiatives that work together on water storage, tidal parks that create space for rivers and nature, and large-scale design strategies that connect these elements. On this day, we explore how the water challenge can be an opportunity to restore our relationship with nature, create healthy, inclusive, and resilient cities, and take action for climate justice.
